upselling-remote-managementIf you’re a reseller of servers, you know the Three-in-One Service Shuffle. It’s an old-fashioned dance in which one technical issue with a server requires three lengthy trips. First, the issue has to be diagnosed and a list of items made in order to remedy the situation. Then, the remedies need to be gathered and brought back to the server for installation. Finally, a post-installation visit makes sure everything is working properly.

This three-step arrangement is cumbersome enough for businesses with in-house IT staff to do the job. For those that outsource such tasks to resellers and service providers, the end-user still has to take time out for the downtime and service visits, but now the reseller gets to burn a lot of time on site and in transit. We didn’t say it was a fun dance.
